Thank you for choosing WellCare. We value you as our member and we want to make sure you get the best care possible.
This directory gives you a list of doctors you can choose from. WellCare contracts with independent providers to form a network for your use. These providers are not WellCare employees. They are independent contractors. Each one chooses how to care for you. They also make their own medical choices on the type of services you need. Some doctors may not do some services based on religious or moral beliefs.
If you have any difficulty in reading or understanding this information, please contact WellCare's member services weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., ET at 1 (800) 951-7719 (TTY/TDD 1-877-247-6272). Preventive care is important. We encourage all members to get regular check-ups and routine health screenings. Health problems can be treated early when they are discovered through regular check-ups.
Each member must choose a Primary Care Provider (PCP). Members may select a Primary Care Clinic as their PCP. If a Primary Care Clinic is selected you must see whichever physician is available.
Members may self-refer to any provider for the following services:
- Visits to your Primary Care Physician (PCP), including Healthchek (Early Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment - EPSDT)
- Care from obstetrician (OB) and gynecologist/certified nurse midwife (CNM) - if pregnancy is confirmed by health care provider.

All female members are allowed to self-refer to certified nurse midwives (CNMs), obstetricians and gynecologists on WellCare's provider panel. In addition, female members are also allowed to self-refer to women's health specialists on WellCare's panel for routine and preventative health care services if their PCP is not a women's health specialist. For a list of women's health specialists on WellCare's panel, please call 1 (800) 951-7719 (TTY/TDD 1-877-247-6272) weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., ET.
It is important to remember that you must receive all medically-necessary Medicaid-covered health care services from WellCare facilities and/or providers. The only time you can use providers not on WellCare's panel is for emergency care or for services provided at federally qualified health centers/rural health clinics, family planning providers listed in your provider directory, community mental health centers, and Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services facilities which are Medicaid providers. Additionally you can receive care from certified nurse midwives and certified nurse practitioners.
Again, thank you for choosing WellCare.
